I have a number of pocket watches with the logo of TCDD (Turkish State Railways). In the early years of the new Turkish Republic Ataturk embarked on a national modernisation plan that wouldn't have been out of place in Soviet Russia. The railway network was one area of rapid expansion. Apparently Sersikoff were responsible for sourcing watches for the railways and, from about mid thirties to mid fifties, used Swiss manufacturers.
This is an example from Golana.
At some point in the fifties sourcing switched from western europe to the USSR - early models had a fifteen jewel 3602 movement and seem to have come from the Moscow watch factory.
Later models were the larger Molnija 3602 open face with an eighteen jewel movement, some branded as Molnija and others as Sesikoff, produced in the Chelyabinsk factory in the Urals.
I have never been able to establish if the watches were used in the operation of the railway or as 'gifts' on retirement. I have tried the current TCDD web site and the Turkish Embassy in the UK to no avail. If anybody can confirm if these watches were work horses or presentation gifts I would be most grateful.

Thanks Rowley for this interesting topic ! The Golana is very nice. Do you have a picture of its movement ?
Unfortunately I am not a specialist of watches made for the Turkish Railways. I hope that someone will be able to answer your question
